Where's the pie dough recipe?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Country Families : One Thread

I always was the world's worst procrastinator!! I, of course, have waited until baking day to look for the pie dough recipe:o)

What I am looking for is, someone on this forum mentioned a pie dough recipe using oil instead of shortening. I am in a sort of hurry, so I didn't look at each and every thread in the recipe category. If any body knows where it is, or knows the recipe, please tell me. I will be baking again on Friday for another Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday (yes, we're having two dinners this week:o)), so if it doesn't show up today, that's okay.

Thanks a bunch!

Another recipe that I found on the internet. Hope it's what you're looking for! My mom always made pie crusts this way, and they were always wonderful.

OIL PIE CRUSTS

INGREDIENTS

1 1/3 CUPS Sifted Flour
½ TSP. Salt
6 TBLSP. Oil
2 TBLSP. Water

DIRECTIONS

PREHEAT Oven to 425 Degrees or to Temperature Given in Filling Recipe
COMBINE in a bowl, Flour and Salt
ADD Oil and Water
STIR with a Fork until Dough No Longer Sticks to the Bowl
FORM into a Ball
ROLL out Dough Between Two Squares of Waxed Paper so that the dough touches the edges of the paper
PEEL off the Top Paper
PICK up Rolled Dough with Bottom Paper and Place Paper Side Up in a 9 Inch Pie Pan
PEEL Off Paper and Ease into Pie Pan

OPTIONS

PASTRY SHELL: With a Fork Prick the Bottom and Sides Generously. Bake at 425 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until desired Brownness. Cool and Fill

WITH BAKED FILLING: Pour Filling into Pastry-Lined Pie Pan and Bake as Directed for the Filling Recipe
