Grand Christmas Cake & A*se Partygreenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread |
Right, it's about time to get this sorted. It's quite early, but if there are a few of us, we may have to book up. The last home game before Christmas is Blackburn on 15 Decemember so how about the Friday before? Any thoughts? Who would be interested?

Obviously marketed this well....

Ah'm participating.
-- Anonymous, November 21, 2001
I'm very confused about what 'cake and @rse party' actually means.
-- Anonymous, November 21, 2001
Ooh - yes please! Friday 14th sounds a great idea - unless we do it on the Saturday night after the game??Do we get a sprig of holly to go with it? If I get the choice, I'll have mine on me Christmas Cake rather than.............somewhere else ;-)

Screach, I thought about Saturday but thought that we'd just end up getting p*****d and not leaving the Strawberry. Not that I object in principle to that... Lynda, it's just a night out, beers and food, EVERYONE welcome.

Lynda I also did wonder, memory serves me correct , Cake has tenous links with the "Navy", old saying I cannot remember , but it ends with "Navy Cake" , when LR comes off patrol he may be able to unravel. Arse is a lot easier and this may also have a naval connection, any auld rivetter at Swan`s will explain, ah silence is golden!!!!!

Still none the wiser Buff but I get the general gist - I think!

Blame me Lynda. I have a mate who's ex merchant navy and even more cynical than I am. He has very little time for communal socialising and refers to social gatherings as 'cake and ar5e' parties.A bit of imagination should give you the full picture. :-))
I used it as the thread heading when we organised the first BBS night out last year, and again for the last one a few weeks ago. Looks like it's stuck.

Thanks PB i was starting to wonder if it was some bizarre fetishistic type affair!!!
-- Anonymous, November 21, 2001
`looks like its stuck!. hence the golden rivot , gettin there
-- Anonymous, November 21, 2001
Buff....no idea mate.
-- Anonymous, November 21, 2001
Oh come off it LR. You submariners are all the same. Up periscope. Going down.......ping!
-- Anonymous, November 21, 2001
... bizarre fetishistic type affair ...They usually wait until I've gone before it really gets going. :-))
Doug, the Friday would suit me. Usual fortmat, ie Significant Others as well ?
-- Anonymous, November 21, 2001
Put Fifties Fan and me down, Dougal !! Wouldn't miss it.Oh, yes...DOUGAL, CAN YOU GIVE ME A RING ??
-- Anonymous, November 21, 2001
Oh howay Val. There's surely a fair few more years left in the owd bu99a yet. Far too early to have him put down.
-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001
Will do, Val. Please can you e mail me your number (on dougal09@hotmail.com). I'm off to an appointment but will try to phone later this morning.

Nothing to do with cakes and ale, but saw Val corresponding. Saw Bud recently and he said to the best of his knowledge you were still in Lockhart/Hennessy Road Wanchai with Fifties?? If that is so would be nice to get together and have a beer or two. But judging by yr remarks to Dougal etc you must be in Gods country or Geordieland anhyhow. Tried mailing you on that add but not recognisedRegs

By the way, if anyone has a venue in mind, then do let me know as my current thinking is Italian or Chinese and others may prefer something else. The other thing is that, if we do go for the Saturday, we get a bigger turnout as ex-pats etc may be in Newcastle for the match.

Add me to the list but we'll have to book somewhere quickly. We had a heck of a job finding somewhere for our work do when it was arranged back in October.
-- Anonymous, November 22, 2001
Steph, I'll leave it 'til the end of tomorrow to let any stragglers let us know either way and then book somewhere with a tentative number.
