I have a problem with the slowdown on a VIP 260. The contract speed of this job is 2.5 m/s. The acceleration, controlled by the TD unit is quite good. But the decelleration is quite harsh and jerky. The SLS contacts have been adjusted so the E1A, E2A, E3A and FE contactors drop out in sequence, with good spacing. The load weighing appears to be working.
Is there anything I could check or adjust to make the slowdown smoother?

is the slowndown the same in both directions ? if not check the generator compounding. Easy way is up/down on inspection speed, should be the same. Otherwise work out which relay gives you the bump and try to change the timing either way. The above assume that the resistor band have NOT been changed. If they have you got a bit of work ahead of you. Cheers Kim

The slowdown is the same in the up and the down.....I don't think the resistor taps have been moved....although I can't say for sure until I look ultra closely. Is it better to have the accelerators drop out close together, far apart, or staggered, i.e. FE, 2 seconds then E3A, 2 seconds then E2A, 1 second then E1A....??

the problem, as simple as it sounds, was caused by a lazy reset of the relay SE, causing GK to drop out later than what it should. The lazy resete was caused by the resistor SE1 being a tad high resistance....
