Jillian!....

Jillian, I must say you have single-handedly (is that a word?) renewed my hope in young folks. I know there are good kids out there still (I have two loving, God fearing, responsible young adult daughters myself) but it seems that more and more I am seeing just the opposite. So much so that I have been greatly discouraged lately regarding our future generations. While parents obviously play the major part in training up children, particularly if they homeschool, I see some terrible children coming from good homes and occasionally some wonderful children come out of appalling family conditions. Parents can only do so much, a good percentage of a person's character is still up to the individual and the choices they make despite their good or bad training and influences. Although we live in a rural area where I believe the majority of parents still try to raise their children with good values, I am seeing more and more young people who are either outright "bad", or at the least worldly, self-centered, lacking good work ethics, etc.

Then someone like you comes along and restores my faith! My congratulations to your parents, and a pat on the back to you also. It is a real blessing to have made your acquaintance through this forum.

Thank you for that compliment. When i get that kind of praise, its easy to think, hey yeah, i'm not doing to bad. But as a younger teenager, i was as wordly as they get. I was into so many things i shouldn't have been, I lied to my parents all the time, and absolutely hated family life. But by Gods grace He has helped me grow and put a desire in my heart to teach my kids at home (oneday) and to live for Him. Its a struggle, but to grow as much as i can now , is important to me. I'm really thankful that i was able to share that with who ever has read it. My art teacher and i were just talking yesterday about society raising children these days, and the focus so much is teaching kids to stand for themselves, be strong in themselves, make them selves higher so that no one can hurt them. While instead they should be teaching everyone to be kind and love one another , then there wouldn't be a reason to "stand guard, and be tough". Its hard to be in a public school, to see peoples attitudes, But i'm sure anyone who works with others, can see just as many childish attitudes and selfishness. This world needs God. Thank you again though.
