Country Families Tribute (poem)

Here's an original, just for CF. Crank up the Poetry section, Melissa.

Country Families Tribute

Among the darkened corridors lurk
All manner of wiles and evil snares;
Like every sample of human work,
The Internet, too, is full of tares.
The Lord has placed my weary feet
In spaces wide of verdant green,
Where Country Families warmly greet
Their virtual neighbors never seen.
The whispered wind in forest pines
Has found a home where friendship shines.

That was a really cool poem. awesome use of words. I love poetry too. when my websites finished , i'll put it on here. I have some poetry on there. Do you write a lot of poetry?

-- jillian (sweetunes483@yahoo.com), November 14, 2001.

Jillian, I write quite a bit, some of it shows up on the Head in the Clouds site, and a good bit of it through the Cloud Couplets email poem list based there. You can see more of my stuff there, if you're interested.

Thanks to all of you above for your kind comments. I like traditional poetry that can be understood. Some poets seem to find pleasure in concealing meaning instead of revealing it.

Randal, I'm truly impressed. Poetry was the one thing I could not get the hang of in college. Well, high school either, for that matter. I can write long fiction all day long. Journalistic pieces come with a snap. But, writing poetry freezes my brain and sends me all the way back to kindergarten. I admire your skill and want to read more. Keep up the good work.
