Dr. Andrew Weil,MD does anyone here follow him?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

To me he seems to know what he's talking about but he also go's to extremes on some things. Does anyone here read and/or follow his advice? Anyone have different opinions about him? I have started reading his book "8 weeks to optimum health" and am thinking about doing some things in it.

He is right in the middle between conventional medicine and alternative everything. I don't agree with taking supplements (I can barely be bothered to remember to take one multivitamin, lol), but I don't see him telling people never to go to doctors either, which some of the alternative types do. He has a website, (www.drweil.com I think), and is featured in I think Prevention magazine and Natural Health Magazine.

I am a woman of strong Christian faith and I find him to be very on "target" with just plain good sense. I am able to take what I can and leave any "New Age" thinking behnd. I wish you the best and the real question here is what do YOU think of it. Does it ring true to you and could you put any of his advise into action. I personally like the breathing he suggest and have even seen improvement. Karole

I do not "follow" him, but his opinions certainly deserve to be looked at. He tells about health in ways that you will never hear from your doctor.

I read his book and really liked it. I take the supplements he recommends - Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Beta Carotene, Selenium, I also take Folic acid but that's because I'm trying to get pregnant. Anyway, I haven't been sick for months and months. Actually, when everyone else is sick I'm usually fine. Maybe the supplements help.

I think he has a lot of good advice.
