Jobo Expert Drums

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

Hi. I am looking for some information. I have recently purchased an Expert Drum 6005 for up to 5 sheets of 8x10 film I don't have a rotary processor but i have a motor base with speed control. I think 50 rpm or so is fast enough but I was wondering what the interval times should be? (forward and reverse) Any other advise or information on this homegrown prosessor would be appreciated. Thanks. Matthew

Matthew I wrote a big thread on this a while back, but I will attempt to answer now, you can use the expert drum in a motor base, you really dont need to have an alternating spin, but if your motor base covers the width of the drum then you are in luck. It will not matter and you should not worry about it. With my drums and the beseler motor base, the drums are too thick and I don't quite get a complete revolution when I use alternating spins, but using just one side rotation has worked for me perfectly, so I don't think alternating spins will be a factor.

Thanks for the help, ....One more thing, filling time. It seems to take forever to fill the tanks and I'm worried about developing time, and uneven processing. My tank has the cog lid, can I replace it with the cap lid? Do you have any suggestions?

I've heard of a funnel with a hose on it being used to fill the drum while it's rotating; that's probably about as fast-filling as the Jobo lift the drum's intended to be used with.

I think it's a transmission-filler funnel or something of that sort.

Matthew this was also on my thread...:-))) yes you can replace the cog lid, it will be a little bit hairy but it can be done, I did it with mine, look, get a box end wrench 15/16 and use it to pry the cog lid out of the drum cap...you will hear a loud crack and probaly crack the cog lid...although I did not damaged mine when I did this. The loud crack is the O ring comming loose....afterwards you can close the mouth with the regular red cap. As to the filling, if you use at least 1 liter, you will be ok, I usually use two fills for 5 sheets.......
