There's a bit on the winter woolies thread. Didn't see what happened to Griffin but he came limping over to the dug-out and was lying on his back with Derek Wright working on his legs. He obviously couldn't continue as he headed off down the tunnel and we had to finish the game with 10 men.

nufc.com say he went off 'feeling his groin'. Still thinking about those lap dancers then!

Well bugger me! Me n' Screach 'n Clarky were still in the bar when the 5th goal went in. We thought it was 5 -1! Still it cound have been worse - we could have been Mr Steph, who didn't get there 'til half time by which time he'd missed 4 goals ( I assume he made it out in time to see goal 5).

Good game though. Some good performances from Lua Lua (his first goal was an absolute beauty of a left footer from around the edge of the area), Griffin, Distin, Bernard, Gary Caldwell. Probably more in midfield but I can't tell the little people apart so it all blended into one. A nice goal from Chopra too - where does he get the energy from - wasn't he playing for the U19 England team yesterday? McClen still keeps demanding the ball when he's in impossible to pass to positions, but at least he's keen. Villa didn't have a shot on goal until around the 80th minute, by which time we were down to 10 men as Griffin went of injured after we'd used all our subs. We saw Dyer sitting with the Club boys and again in the bar at half time (another scandal for the rags to get their teeth into). Gavilan was in there too before kick off.

Funny but Andy Griffin didn't seem to have much of a suntan! Screacher was lucky not to be sent off for abusing the ref, but managed to tone it down just before the stewards radared in on him!

The weather was surprisingly clement, at least for the first hour until the heavens opened. It was still bloody cold mind, but without the arctic wind chill factor.

Anyway it was a good night and nice to meet some familiar faces after a couple of years away. Thanks for the drinks Screach and Clarky - my round next time. If you want to know all the scorers read NUFC.COM or wait for Screach and Clarky's comprehensive reviews. :o))

Steph - Griff did his groin in when he made a(nother?) lunge over on the far side. He launched himself from at least 5 yards away, stretched for and got the ball but got up limping (with his shorts stuck up the crack in his @rse - surpised you missed that one!

I managed to blag a lift to KP so I got there in the end. Anyway here's a few thoughts.

1) Griffin got cramp. The lad doesn't look fit enough to me.
2) Quinn was injured.
3) Villa were sh*te I mean really sh*te.
4) Their terrible goalie should have saved LuaLua's first goal.
5) LuaLua is coming on leaps and bounds.
6) Our much of a much ness midfield players played some terrific football: good pace, good control, good passing, good stuff! I think of the players as a group rather than as individuals. Kerr, McClen, Green, Boyd all have similar skills and last night it worked a treat.
7) The defence had nothing to do until the last ten minutes when we went down to ten men. Caldwell and Distin were never really troubled.
8) Harper made two canny saves at the death after standing aboot in the cad all game.
9) Bernard is good enough for the Premiere, he's raw and lacks experience but he is quick and able - I'm sure he'll get a chance some time this season.
10) Coppinger I was saying at the time doesn't do it for me, then he controlled the ball turned in one smashing moment and coolly placed the ball in the back of the net. Good goal.
11) Last night was the first time I've seen young Chopra. I'm impressed. His control is good, he’s quick, his positional play is really good considering his lack of experience and the goal he scored after a fine dribbly run and cross from Bernard looked easy. Good players make things look easy.
