Kitchen Tools and Gadgets

What are your favorite tools and gadgets in the kitchen?

I have one knife that Iwould not like to be without! I can't even remember where it came from, but it is a perfect knife. It has a black handle, slightly serrated edge, and is very strong, not flexible, it is about the size of a steak knife, and I use it for everything. If I tell my kids to get my knife, they know just which one I mean! I have a drawer full of others, but if anything happens to this one, I am going to be upset!!!!

I also like my food processor and my crock pot. I have some good heavy pans I use every day. One thing I wish I had is a big stainless steel collander. I saw one for $40, but that is a little too much for me, so I keep using all my small plastic ones instead.

One of my best friends is a Pampered chef consultant and she is always giving me new things to tryout. My cousin is also in chef school and brings me things to use also. During canning season I could never do without my tomato scoop/corer.During Apple season I could never do without my apple peeler/slicer/corer/dicer.

My garlic press is great! My apple peeler just broke and I am very sad. It took a small chunk of my finger in the process, so I don't know if I'll invest in another. My sister gave me a Le Cruset pot that I use for everything. It is really heavy so I can let things simmer without worrying about it burning. I love my little Oscar food chopper. It is my favorite kitchen gadget.

I too love my food processor. It saves sooo much time. But, I really love my trash compactor. With three boys and 2 adults, it is so nice to only have to take the trash out once a week, instead of every day like I did before the compactor. It is wonderful!!!

I love kitchen tools and gadgets and am always on the look out for new ones! I too would love to have a stainless steel colandor but like Melissa, will wait to find one inexpensively. My favorite tool and one I would NOT want to do without is my Kitchenaid mixer. I have all the attachments with it and use it almost every day. It is about 12 years old and has never given me a moments trouble.

Without my 47 piece lifetime collection of cast iron, I would starve.

For me it is my Pampered Chef knives!

My ulu knife. Dices, slices and does almost everything I need. It's one drawback, at least so far, is where to safely store it. My three year old son is inquisitive, and is becoming quite the daredevil climber climbing spots using everything and anything to his advantage. Gonna have to start using the attic pretty soon . . . if we had one.

My mandolin slicer! I love it!

The handle of my potato peeler fell apart, and since I have not been able to find another that I like, I have duct taped the handle back together. I would rather not peel potatoes at all than to go without my favorite peeler!

Also, I love my iron pans. I have 2 dutch ovens; 3 frying pans of various sizes, one with a lid; two sauce pans and one griddle that covers 2 burners. I would like to get some oven ware, like a deep dish pan for pan pizza, and a corn pone mold.

A friend gave us a rice cooker/steamer...we have been making perfect rice ever since:o)

Then there's the orange juicer my mom got as a wedding gift 42 years ago, the donut cutter, the mini deep fryer, the crockpot, the BIG roaster, the stock pots and water bath canner.......

I love, love my slow cookers- I have three and I use one almost every day. I also love my food processor. My mom gave me a rice cooker/steamer and I use it much more than I thought I would. I use my cast iron skillet and dutch oven quite a bit also. I too, would love a stainless steel colander and I'm also using the plastic ones until...... I have a set of great knives that I got for a wedding gift, that I cant cook without I'm very careful about washing and drying them right away and they have a knife block.
