Rebel G better than EOS 3000?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I'm buying my wife a camera for X-mas. She has experience with an older Rebel that she had to return when she changed jobs. I want to get her something similar, entry-level and am torn between the EOS 3000 and the Rebel G. I don't want the Rebel 2000, because I can't spend that much. Any advice? Thanks.

Rebel G X is very good, this was my first Camera and still today is my back up for my other Cameras, this Camera is probebly hard to find today, but as an alternatieve try EOS Elan II, this Camera is very good and has come down in price to a couple of hundard dollars. Iuse EOS Rebel GX, EOS 50E(Elan for Americans) and EOS 5 (AE2 for Americans) all this Cameras are exellent and hasselfree even for entri level photographers and yet still very good for advanced photographers, even pros use them. Good look and enjoy the beauty of taking photographs. Othmar Vohringer

Personally, I don't know much about cameras, and am in the same situation. I've been leaning more towards the EOS 3000 because of the price difference. I've talked to a lot of camera dealers and done a lot of research online, and as far as I can tell, the Rebel 2000 is a better camera, but the differences between the Rebel 2000 and the Rebel 3000 are minimal...making the EOS 3000 a better choice for me affordability-wise. Good luck.

I do not know anything about cameras, but I did my research about price and quality and found the Rebel 2000 cheaper than the Rebel G. I just bought if for $220 on the internet at sunsetcamera.com while in the stores the Rebel G was $300. I think this is a good deal.
