We will be getting 3 baby calfs in a few weeks and i want to know how much and how often is a good amount to bottle feed them. I have alot of books on the subject but they are all a little diffrent. I think you all would give me a closer idea (if it worked for you). I also need this info so i can stock up on evey thing i will need. Thanks vickie.

We raised calves in the past and have found through our experiences that giving them Immuno-G which is a colestrum based product, helps boost their health and also helps in that they can drink as more milk without getting the runs. Also they had less cases of pnemonia and e- coli issues. We fed a half gallon of goats milk, another important factor by 1/2 gallon a day after they were afew days old and gradually increase. We also gave in addition the 7 way scours pill available from Jeffers. Hadn't had a problem since.

Where are you getting them from and how old will they be ? Did they get Moms colestrum ? With these answer I can then give you more info .

the calves will be 2 weeks old when we get them. we are getting them from a farmer he has about 100 he said he will be selling. should i ask about some kind of tests or shots thanks vickie

You need to feed them whole milk replacer { 2 qt twice a day } my first bag would be medicated .I would also start them on a medicated calf starter {sweet feed} .All the hay they want .Keep them dry and draft free.At 2 weeks I would try to get them on the bucket { will be much easier in the long run }Check with localfarmers and see what they vacc for or even better ask your vet .Good luck .~ Patty
