Help, my computer's power supply is growling, and I figure the fan is going out. It is a Tiger TG-2306-D 235 Watts

How do you figure out what to replace it with, since I can't find the exact same model?????

Thanks!

The fan on mine also makes a horrible noise. Hubby didn't replace it when he replaced the drive because he couldn't replace just the fan. Alas, I, of myself, am completely computer illiterate.

In the front cover of BWH their compture fan went out. They took off the cover and put a regular ossilating fan on it. I guess you could try this if nothing else works!

Rose, my guess is that the growling you hear is either dry bearings or a bad bearing on the cooling fan on your power supply. You could try a drop or two of oil to see if that quiets it. If not, I have some good news for you. Of all the things you might replace in your computer, the power supply is about the least expensive. Also, unless you have an unusual computer, power supplies for them are about like tires for cars- get the right size and the brand doesn't matter. Further, it's a real simple installation. There is an odd quirk about them, though.

While you can usually buy a power supply for $35-50 and (not that you need one) a new case for about the same, you can buy a new case with the same power supply already in it for about $5 more usually. I've never understood this, but that's the way it is.

If you're really trying to be frugal, buy the set, put the power supply in your PC and sell the case for $20 to someone. I can usually find someone who can use a brand new case for that kind of money. I hope this helps.

Gary, I have a nice Micron, and don't want to go through the new case ordeal. Can you help me figure out which replacement power supply to get? I looked at Micron's web page, and none of them match exactly, of course. The one in there now is 235 Watts Model # TG-2306-D

Are all the cables that come off power supplies to the mother board, etc, the same?
