Spiced Grapes (Recipe Needed)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

About 20 years ago I saw a recipe in "Workbasket" booklet, and it is long since gone. Does anyone have a recipe for spiced grapes? My foster-mother loves them, and can no longer find them in the stores. TIA Sharyn

Hi, Sharyn. Here's a recipe I found on the internet for Spiced Grapes. I have never tried it, so I don't know how it turns out. Spiced Grapes

1 lb. (450 g) seedless grapes
1 cup (250 ml) sugar
1 (250 ml) cup water
1 cinnamon stick
2 star anise
5 whole cloves
12 black peppercorns

Combine all ingredients except grapes in a small saucepan and boil for two to three minutes. Pierce each grape two to three times with a sharp skewer or toothpick. Place grapes in a small bowl and cover with the syrup mixture. Refrigerate for 24 to 36 hours. Serve with cheese or nuts. I found this by doing a search for "spiced grapes" on www.google.com

I've found google.com to be the best search engine out there. Generally speaking, if you can't find it on google, it probably can't be found! Best wishes to you and hope the recipe is what you're looking for.

Response to Spiced Grapes

Oh. What a good idea! I belong to a food buying club. It's ten bucks twice monthly. And I get a lot of food that's worth a heck of a lot more than ten bucks. But, I don't have a choice in food. I get what I get. Last week I got two pounds of grapes that I just didn't know what to do with. I was going to freeze them to eat like grape popsicle bonbons [very good this way]. But, now I think I will experiment with them. Spice them up and then freeze them. Spiced grape popsicle bonbons! :-)
