Grocery stores protect produce from bio-chemical contamination

KMIR-TV

Palm Springs, Oct. 30 -

The aftermath of the terrorist attacks has left many wondering what's next? Some speculate the next target will be cruise liners others feels it may be something much simpler -- like the food we eat at home.

Local grocery stores are already taking charge by putting into place new safety precautions.

Jensen's Market is Palm Springs and Palm Desert is checking all foods for tampering or contamination.

They are also asking their employees and vendors to keep a closer eye on the products.

The Indio Village Market is checking all fruits, vegetables, and meats for safety. Manager Jon Tejani says everyone must do their part in order to keep our community safe.

Another way grocery stores are making sure their fresh products stay safe is by hiring in-store security personnel.
