The same question was asked a while back, and this was the answer they posted:

< Stop, Menu, 9, 1-All, Open

a menu will appear sayin Enable VCD 1-YES/2-NO

press 1

Vcds will now play

a menu will appear sayin Enable VCD 1-YES/2-NO

press 1

Vcds will now play

I have tested this hack on my Matsui DVD 110, yes it does enable the VCD function, but it still does not allow me to play CD-R or CD-RW. Can anyone else help with this?

The Matsui 110 WILL play VCD's. However, it's very temperamental about which types of cd media it will work with. I've managed to get it to work with CD-RW's but not CD-R's. I think it's just a question of trial and error with different brands.

I've got it to work with Emtec and Master CD-RW's - the Emtec ones don't always seem to work, however. It's quite possible that it may work with certain types of CD-R's - I've not found any yet tho'.

Good luck!

According to various sources, the Matsui DVD110 dosn't have a CD-R or CD-WR playback function. It does not recognise this type of media. In the case of burned DVDs, most DVD Players can only play either DVD- or DVD+ type media. I'm currently searching to find out which this particular model uses, so i can burn some stuff for a friend.

Due to what i hear about the CD-R / CD-WR playback function not being available, but with the knowledge that a VCD function is built into the software, i can only presume that it means it can play VCDs off DVD type media. This was to allow more movies on one DVD.

Other than that, i have no other explanations or ideas.
