More Reason Not to Support Billy Graham!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : The Christian Church : One Thread

From a new book entitled...."Adrift: Postmodernism in the Church"...by Phil Sanders...ISBN 0-89225-382-7....page 176

"For many Christians, the concept of sin is outmoded. Recently, in an interview with Robert Schuller, Billy Graham stated:

'I think everybody who knows Christ, whether they're conscious of it or not, they're members of the Body of Christ.....God's purpose is to call out a people for His name, whether they come from the Muslim world, Buddhist world, the Christian world, or the non-believing world, they are members of the Body of Christ, because they have been called by God. They may not even know the name of Jesus.....and I think they are saved, and that they are going to be in heaven with us.'

Robert Schuller (overjoyed): 'What I hear you saying is that it's possible for Jesus Christ to come into human hearts and soul and life if they've been born into the darkness and never had exposure to the Bible. Is that a correct interpretation of what you are saying?'

Billy Graham: 'Yes it is, because I believe that. I've met people in various parts of the world...that have never seen a Bible, and never heard of Jesus, but they've believed in their hearts that there was a God.'" (end of quote)

Now folks....forget the details of Graham's position on baptism. These statements ought to shock us!!!

How does Grahams statements coincide with the following Scriptures where Jesus said He was the only way to God (John 14:6); there is no other name under heaven whereby men can be saved (Acts 4:12); and again Jesus who said that unless one believe in Him as the Messiah, they would die in their sins (John 8:24)???

If one can be saved apart from the gospel....why bother preaching it??

I think it becomes easy, based upon the words of his own mouth....to label Billy Graham a false teacher...no better....no worse...than any Morman or Jehovah's Witness who ever existed.

You would never think of going to a stadium filled with Mormons....but many of you would take a van load to listen to a man who says accepting Christ is not essential to being saved.

Shame on you!!!

Amen And Amen Brother Danyy! I thank God that you have point out these significant and important facts. It is obvious that the gospel (which is not a gospel at all, that Billy Graham preaches is as we have said before a pathetic perversion of the gospel of Christ. THe doctrine of "Sa;vation by faith only" has now gone to its ultimate end. It has become a doctrine of "salvation without faith in CHrist at all". Anyone that cannot see this simple fact simply does not want ot see it.

As always Brother I thank God for you.

Your Brother in Christ,

E. Lee Saffold

I wonder if he preaches this nonsence due to a belief in pre- destination? IF predestination is "the biblical norm" then he would, of course, be correct. It would not matter one bit how, or if, anyone came to Christ, they would be chosen to be Christian, and that is it.

Just another reason to stay far away from the calvinistic bent of theology!

Thanks Danny!!!

If that doesn’t open some eyes, I don’t know what will!

When we KNOW someone is a false teacher and KNOW what directions are given for us concerning false teachers, I wonder why we don’t follow those directions?

Rom 16:17-18 Now I urge you, brethren, keep your eye on those who cause dissensions and hindrances contrary to the teaching which you learned, and turn away from them. For such men are slaves, not of our Lord Christ but of their own appetites; and by their smooth and flattering speech they deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting

1 Tim 6:3-5 If anyone advocates a different doctrine, and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, he is conceited {and} understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain.

Titus 3:10-11 Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.

II John 1:9-11 Anyone who runs ahead and does not continue in the teaching of Christ does not have God; whoever continues in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. Anyone who welcomes him shares in his wicked work.

God gives us these warnings for a reason.

We are to… Watch those causing dissensions, TURN AWAY from them, Warn a divisive person once, warn him again, after that have NOTHING to do with him. And we are not to take a one into our homes or welcome such a one.

WHY these warnings?

These men are NOT slaves of our Lord, and with their smooth flattering speech they deceive the unsuspecting. These people are conceited and UNDERSTAND NOTHING (why try to get spiritual teaching form someone who doesn’t understand the first thing about Godly matters?). Such a one brings envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions, and constant friction. And then there is the sharing we get to do when we are with these people…we get to share in their wicked work. So now, not only are the false teachers spreading all these false teachings around, we gladly want to share in this noble work.

What a joke on us…it is enough to make me sick!

Why ... because it was so short?

Sister D. Lee Muse:

As usual it is good to hear from you. Your above comments concerning this pathetic false teacher, Billy Graham, are very timely, accurate, and in harmony with the truth. I just wanted to say AMEN AND AMEN. I thank God for you and your love for the truth and your disdain for those who teach contrary to the doctrine of Christ.

It is quite telling, and interesting, to notice that we have heard nothing in this thread from those who previously, in other threads, were all aglow with their shameless support for this deliberate false teacher contending that he taught the true and complete gospel! Where are his supporters now? Are they out there and now ashamed to speak in His defense? Or is it that they now see how wrong they were about this matter and have not the integrity, honesty, strength of character and love for truth to come into this thread and admit that they have been supporting a false teacher who is opposed to the truth as it is found in the doctrine of Christ. It is indeed quite obvious that their silence is so LOUDLY proclaiming their complete awarness of their error! And their silence is evidence of their impentitent hearts which are "stiffnecked" even in the face of irrefutable facts which would compell any honest person to turn from their errors.

Brother Danny, I am sure that I speak for those who love the truth when I say THANK YOU for making Billy Graham's opposition to the gospel of Christ and the truth taught in the doctrine of Christ so clear and appearent that even the unfaithful among us who are persistent in their support of this deceiver have NOTHING TO SAY, NOTHING! Ha!

Your Brother in Christ,

E. Lee Saffold
