Elan 7E vertical grip failure with Sigma 2.8 70-200mm HSM & EF 80-200mm L

Hi,

I'm having the following problem with ma Elan 7E. Switching between "DEP" and "M" on the program dial disables the vertical grip. This happens with the two following lenses: Sigma 2,8 70-200 HSM and the EF 80-200L. While the 1,8 50mm Mk I and the EF 3.5-4.5 24-85 mm USM are not affected.

Did somebody else come acrosss such failures?

I'm thinking to switch to an 4.0 70-200 L USM which hopefully does not show these problems.

regards

thats weird... i have an elan iie and am trying to decide if i should get a 70-200mm 2.8 sigma or a 70-200mm 4.0 canon lens. they both have comparable prices. i guess the sigma lens is bound to have incompatibility problems...

I can't think of any reason why "DEP" or "M" mode would have any impact on the vertical grip at all. Sounds kind of fishy. Are you sure it isn't due to some back connection that occurs because of the size of the two larger lenses?
