I see that the shabby shack down the road is bidding to have a Lord Mayor. Among the criteria is that the winning city should have a pleasant feeling. Hmmm...maybe next year, eh.

There will be a slight delay to the investiture ceremony in the cathedral whilst it's being built...

North Tyneside also voted to go for an elected Mayor. Some blerk in the Journal reckoned this was so we would have a clearer view of who to blame, for anything and everything! What a sad indictment on our mean-minded society. We have been congratulating ourselves that, including Mr & Mrs Clarky's votes, we had a whopping 35% turn out. Some of these mayoral referendum votes have "attracted" as low as 10% turn-outs.
Democracy in action?

You can lead a horse to water, Clarky, but he's just as likely to piss in it as drink it.

Hardly a surprise though, there has finally been a series of books come out that have encouraged kids to read again and they are falling over themselves to make films of them (not to mention 8 million plastic figurines and sticker albums etc etc etc).
