I am doing research on the historic Ferry Building and am looking for any information on previous uses, building typologies, architecture...there is a book written by Nancy Olmstead about this building but it is out of print. If anyone has the book or can give me some more on the history, that would be fantastic. Thanks

Hi Gloria,

That book is out of print however i have seen copies of it floating around in various bookstores for sale. I think i saw it at the Borders at Union Square not that long ago. Also check the California Historical Society Bookstore. Green Apple Books on Clement had had copies a couple months ago.

What's there to tell. The building was designed by Paige Brown and the tower was modeled after a Bell Tower from a cathedral in Seville, Spain. The building itself cost $1 million. It has a frontage of 659 feet and a width of 156 feet.
