I think it's 18" for the wall and the floor would depend on what kind of stove you've got. Good luck.

Your insurance company may know... Mine gave me a booklet that had all the rules.. It told the distance from the wall and what to use on the wall to protect the was and the floor dale

Make sure you have good battery operated smoke detectors!!!!! I think a rule of thumb away from combustibles has been two feet but do check with your local fire department (if you don't want to tell them who you are they'll probably still give you the info; some people don't want people snooping around their homes and I understand that. Just call and ask for info. Also if you have a chimney sweep listed in your area you might ask them. If you don't e-mail me direct because I have a good friend who is a FIREFIGHTER and a CHIMNEY SWEEP and I'll be glad to give you his e-mail address and he can answer your questions!

We put heat shields on our stove and pipe. Didn't need protective wall. Have a protective floor. By the way, I have a side fill on my stove and wish I had made my floor longer by that side filler.

If you're asking how far off the wall you're mounting it on, I thought they come with 1/4" spacers or so...

Code here I think is 18" minimum clearance for anything unshielded / single wall stove pipe.

We have that concrete type wallboard, covered with marble tile behind the stove. The manufacture of the stove printed specs with the installation directions. We maintained a 12 inch clearance for the back of the stove, which automatically made it 18 inches for the pipe.

if your talking about the distance the heat shield should be from the wall, I believe it is 1 inch in most areas. It also needs to be elevated 1 inch from the floor which enables air to circulate freely. A noncombustible heat shield must be suspended with noncombustible spacers as well. Rules for most wood stoves are 36 inches from the stove to combustibles and 18 inches for single wall stove pipe to combustibles. Use of a proper heat shield will cut these requirements in half. Most modern stoves will have a sticker on them somewhere listing the required clearances. We have one which can be safely put within 6 inches of the wall without a heat shield
