The Vietnamese believed if they lost a body part they wouldn't go to their heaven. Our boys intentionally dismembered some people and drug their parts a mile away, and the Vietnamese STILL fought back. People have wacky ideas but they still fight for life.

I think it was Rumsfeld who said there was no "silver bullet" to use against terrorists. I don't think he said anything about blood-dipped red bullets, so maybe it's "worth a shot" (no pun intended).
