EOS 300 second curtain flash

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Hello!

I have bought Sigma EF-430 SUPER flash that has a possibility of fireing at second curtain, but I do not know whether my body allows something like this. Does anybody know the answer?

The posibility of second courtain sync, depends on the body, not the flash. Although is a very good flash, I'm sorry to tell you that if your camera isn't capable of second courtain sync, you won't be able to do so...

What type of camera do you own ??? (brand and model)

I asume that as you are in the EOS forum you hava a Canon, buy no every model is capable of that...

Check the manual of your camera for further information. or e-mail me for any question beyond the scope of this forum...

The EOS 300 (Rebel 2000) lacks a custom function to support second-curtain sync. This means that it can't do second curtain sync with the internal flash or with an external flash that lacks second curtain controls. (such as the Speedlite 380EX)

However, it should do second-curtain sync if you attach a flash that has a pushbutton or switch or whatever to enable the feature. (such as the 550EX)

You'll have to consult the Sigma's manual to see if you can set second-curtain sync on the flash itself.

I have a 300EZ flash which I purchased along with my 650. This flash offers 2nd curtain flash by way of a switch on the flash which works on both my 650 and my Rebel X
