No need to apologize for the English. It's a lot better than my Russian.

The 550EX will work fine on the EOS 50. In fact, it's the best flash available for the EOs 50. But it doesn't conduct itself quite the same way as the built-in flash.

This combination will normally opperate in E-TTL mode. That's Canon's best metering scheme that comes by way of a pre-flash that fires immediately before the main flash. It also has several other options that the built-in flash doesn't have, like Flash Exposure Lock and High Speed Sync. It's a great flash and it works well with the EOS 50.

Thank, Jim! I want to specify a question. In what mode built - in flash EOS 50 - TTL, A-TTL or E-TTL works? Whether she(it) gives out preliminary flash? Yours faithfully, Vitaly.

The built-in flash opperates in TTL mode. There is no pre-flash.
