Hey We Should Win This One, Right?

This week the 0-3 Detroit Lions come to the Metrodome. If there is a team that is having more unexpected problems than us, it would be Detroit. After getting blown out of all their games, they are in the middle of a quarterback controversy and their outlook is sad. Of course if we continue to have our problems and life may not get easier for us either.

This week's keys to a victory are protect Culpepper, be mentally prepared and pressure the Lions QB, whomever he may be.

On offense we have to come into this game ready to play. The season is not lost yet, but if we continue to argue on the sidelines (Moss, Carter), take plays off (MOSS) and cause penalties (like the 12 penalty performance against the Saints), the season will be over after this game. We are not at our best and instead of working harder to get back on track it seems that our team has decided to blame everyone else for the problems instead of taking care of their own business. I want to see the same team that played in pre-season with such emotion and passion for the game back out on the field. We can blame it on the loss of Stringer or the retirement of Smith all we want, but none of that will get us a win. We have the talent to do it no matter what anyone says and now is the time to prove it.

The offensive line has to step up to give Culpepper time to make his reads. For some reason this season it seems that Culpepper has taken a step back in his approach to the game. He is playing more like a rookie now then he did in the past. Give him the time he needs and good things will happen. Detroit is a good starting block because they are weak. Bennett needs to run hard and quit trying to dance around. Bust the ball up the gut and hit Moss and Carter on the fly.

On defense we just have to play balls out. We have some weak points and the league is aware of those. The Lions have no business moving the ball on us especially after the way they played on Monday night. The Lions will turn the ball over as long as we keep all plays in front of us. Force them to have a long drive and they will screw up. They had seven (7) interceptions against the Browns! We should be able to get at least three during this game and the offense will have to capitalize on these.

I know that we are in a sad position right now and it is easy to blame our season on the stuff that happened early in the year. That is no reason to play like crap. We have the offensive talent to put up the points, the defense will continue to get better and we can and will be back on top of the division, but it has to start Sunday.

If we lose Sunday we may not win 3 games this year. We should dominate the Kittens but i'm sure we find some way to make it close. Get your head out of your asses VIKES!!!!! and play some football. GO VIKES!!!!
