Length of SVCD

How many minutes worth of video can a SVCD hold? Considering that it's going to be from a DVD source, is the sound quality any better than the original VCD standard?

It depends on how to make it. Typically you can hold about 35 minutes per CD if you make it based on the compliant standard SVCD specs.

Sound quality is the same since it uses the same audio specification. If sound is important then stick with DVD.

Given the time limitation of SVCD, will the video and sound quality remain good after 50 minutes?

The time limitation is due to the capacity of the CD-R media, so no it doesn't.
