What is happening to this place

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

I have noticed a tremendous amount of hate. Why must it be this way? There is nothing here any longer but hatred and racism. It is such a pity. Kritter has long left. Unc NEVER returns or reads his email and this place is going to hell in a breadbasket. Can anyone tell what is going on? Has everyone really left? Nothing but trolls abound. This is Unc's idea of Free Speech? So much to be desired. This is indeed a disgrace. I would rather hang out at Pooles place at least he has a discussion board, not a venom board. You bunch of haters. I am going to contact Phil Greenspun and complain and if I have any luck at all I shall ask him to toss this abominable place.

Tattletale.

I hear there a bunch of warm and fuzzy forums somewhere out there on the net. Helen and cin are looking for them, get in touch with them, they'll show you the way.

I don't see anything happening to this place that doesn't ordinarily happen to this place from time to time. It's like an evolutionary process or the wind in Chicago. Give it a while, and it will change. I'm sure that the folks who have recently come in to disrupt are hoping that you take them seriously.

I really did not mean that. It is going to hell, but ignore it.

I've noticed that Cherri has become a local exemplar. Her political notions are relatively more thoughtful than most, her spelling superior, her ideas more profound and interesting. And, she uses her own name as her constant handle.

And when you realize that relative to the average person Cherri's remarkable hatred is expressed with abominable spelling, and her single idea is foolish, you get some perspective about the current state of this forum. There is nothing that *can* be discussed with anonymous 2-year-olds who would all be dead if their lives depended on distinguishing an idea from pure noise.

Wow Flint, how did the sex-change operation go?

-- flintella (now@a.woman), October 10, 2001.

Unc NEVER returns or reads his email

What's email?

-- Uncle Deedah (unkeed@yahoo.com), October 10, 2001.

Flint offers us a poingant example of what is wrong with board. Instead of answering the question at hand, he just launches an insult attack on another poster here.

Some trolls are anomynous and others use a consistent handle.

Leave Flint alone. We should be happy he's still drawing breath: his 77th birthday was last February.

Hey, where's Jack Booted Thug mostly hang out? High time we renewed our trystin.. some intermittent wisdom here but something about the signal-to-noise ratio.... (I always wanted to whine about that!)

Flint, wherever you, Unk, Hardliner, and, uh, a, uhm, 'Jack Booted Thug' are arguing, that's where I want to fire up a tab. Make mine bourbon.

I need to listen to all the elders speak again now, for my own sanity....

Flint is 77?!? Flint, true?

I figured Flint was some 44-year old southern WWII GI wannabe who lucked into the gift of advanced self expression.

I'm reserving an increased measure of respect until this age fact is verified.

-- Bemused (and_amazed@you.people), October 11, 2001.

I've been hanging out at my son's football game arguing about crappy refereeing.

Who might you be?

-- Jack Booted Thug (governmentconspiracy@NWO.com), October 11, 2001.

Flint isn't 77. And he is a hell of a cool guy to party with, y'all would be surprised by the Flintmeister in person.

-- Uncle Deedah (unkeed@yahoo.com), October 11, 2001.

In any case, much as I'd like to contribute to an interesting discussion, I haven't been able to find one lately. Most of the conversation here sounds like a group of people armed with those rubber Bronx cheer blatter devices, honking meaninglessly at one another. All noise and no signal lately. You really gotta wonder just what kind of person can spend literally *months* dreaming up new handles under which they just call other people names. And do so *in preference* to actual discussion. Weird. No fun.

Looks like Laura is impostering a former regular named Lisa.

-- (we@see.you), October 11, 2001.

JBT...at a kid's football game arguing in front of the kids, with other argumentative parents, about the ref?

Why am I not surprised?

-- (teaching kids@bad. sportsmanship), October 12, 2001.

I don't know why you would be surprised. Or not surprised for that matter. You certainly have no surprises for anyone my precious one.

Partying with Flint, yep that sounds exciting. Woo Hoo!

-- gag me with a spoon (he's@only.76), October 12, 2001.

I haven't been around so much lately. Did a little traveling and am now suffering from, not one, but two ear infections. Things have certainly changed (again) around here. Of course, things have changed all over.

I'm already missin' summertime.......

Deano, if it escalates to three ear infections, call the Sun. :)

You made me laugh out loud!!

I love you helen.....

Flint's like in his 40's or something. And Unk's right, I very much enjoyed hanging out with Flint. I just wish I could have absorbed some of that intellect =)

-- (cin@cin.cin), October 12, 2001.

Cin you are full of shit. Prove you met Flint. You lie like the desert dog. I always knew you were a liar now you have proved it. Get off the computer and PLEASE take care of your children. They need you.

-- (LadyLogic2000@yahoo.com), October 12, 2001.

Yeah, but I only lie on the couch or the porch, you dim woman.

Hey Cin, how is it???

Lying on the porch, sleepin'... (you know about sleeping dogs...)

The Dog

He's really 53, a true systems dude. He's just fun to play with. Although he will shoot ya down if you take too many liberties.

Deano? Deano?
