Saudi Jet Bound For London Makes Emergency Landing In Rome Oct 8, 2001

A Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 777, en route from Jedda to London, made an emergency landing at Rome's Fiumicino Airport this morning after receiving a report that there might be a bomb on board.

The crew received a bomb alert from the airline headquarters while it was in Italian air space and requested permission to land at Rome's airport.

The 75 passengers and 14 crew were taken off the plane and a search was being carried out. So far no bomb has been found.
