How can I use partial and evaluative metering in my EOS 500N? I bought the camera second hand without a manual.

Partial metering is used when you hit the auto exposure lock button. Otherwise evaluative is used.

Partial metering is activated by pressing the (*) button in the upper right-hand corner on the back.

Also, center weighted metering is used when you switch to manual mode.

Three different metering modes is a good feature, too bad the 500n/Rebel G won't allow you to pick other ways to use them.
