...when they shut up and play! I watched last weeks game on tape and though I was somewhat expecting what I saw, I didn't expect it to be that bad. This weeks game, watching it live was so much more enjoyable. Daunte was clearly in charge, Randy and CC seemed ready to play and do what they could without worrying about personal stats, and we looked so much more professional. Let's hope that last week was the low point of the season, and today's win begins a turnaround.

No kidding, today was refreshing, although I must say after Daunte's first pick, I was pretty thoroughly convinced that the Vikings as we know them were done for good. I was envisioning a complete and total collapse, ending with Red selling the team, firing Denny, purging the roster, etc...

I'll tell you the one player who really stood out in my mind today was Winfield Garnett #92, our DT. This guy is going to be, or should I say is a stud. I hope Denny doesn't decide to deactivate him again this season like he did last weekend. He has a couple of pretty incredible plays, the batted pass was just one of them. Chamberlain is also turning out to be a gem. Culpepper was scaring the hell out of me, but I have to remember that he actually can do some of those things, so I guess we have to take the good with the bad.

Some of the negs were Lance Johnstone getting obliterated on running plays. I know if I, the lowly fan, saw this that other teams are going to key on this in the future. Is he really generating enough of a pass rush to be such a liability against the run? Brad Badger had a few glaring goofs. Henry Jones was pretty bad out there today, I'll cut him some slack seeing he hasn't even had a week with the team, but his tackling skills looked exceptionally poor. Finally, what the hell was Kenny Wright thinking? He played right into Meshawns head game. Whatever it said it must have been really, really, really offensive. Not only did the ref throw the hankie really quickly, but one of the Vikes defenders grabbed him and tried to pull him away really quickly as well. I'm not saying I agree with the call, but everything points to it at least being a boneheaded move to put oneself in that sort of predicament.

1-2 is better then 0-3. Now if we can beat a Saints team that is going to be licking its wounds, we can get back in this thing. Let's just not fall more then 2 games back of Green Bay, I wan't to keep things in our own destiny.

Offensive Game Ball === Daunte Culpepper Defensive Game Ball === Winfield Garnett Sp. Teams Game Ball === Chris Walsh (KaBOOM!!)
