Am I the only one... (WTC-related)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

am I the only one that wsant surprised by the attack? I didnt know it was going to be thta,, but I knew something was goign to happen soon. It was jsut a matter of time. bin jr's post, is getting alot of people worked up, but he is wrong on a few point. Those 20 people, and Laden, didnt kick the USA's butt,, it DID wake alot of people up. And that wasnt the first "terroist" attack on the U.S. WAR of 1812,, the capital was attacked,, other cities have been attacked. I dont understand where the surprise was to warrant another reduction on our civil rights (not liberties, rights are God given)

The attacks were horrific but it did bring some good. More people are going to church, less crime, we are more united then we have in years.

It didn't surprise me at all. I recall a converstation after the WTC was bombed the first time in which it was brought up, 'wouldn't it be easier to just fly a 747 or a cessna full of explosives into it?(please don't report me to the FBI for saying that ;) I've wondered why it didn't happen sooner or even worse things. It'd take less effort to spread anthrax over NYC. We can't think somehow the US is immune, especially when we go all around the world pushing our own agendas on sovereign nations. We wouldn't allow them to do that to us so what makes us think we can get away with it? Terrorists are the least of my worries. What I worry about more is China. Maybe not anytime soon but give it 10 or 20 years. They could give us a run for our money right now. If Russia, Iran and a few others joined them, since they are becoming more friendly, we'd be screwed. China is not some backwards 3rd world nation. They've existed as a nation for 1000s of years. They invented the art of war, gunpowder, and built the only manmade structure that can be seen above our atmosphere. They have at least 4 times as many people as we do. Lots of wealth. They are more technologically advanced than what American media portrays them as. Just turn over your keyboard and mouse and see where it's made. They are the invisible superpower, the sleeping giant. Mao told his people to bide their time. If you get your news outside of the national status-quo sources, or just knew a few Chinese nationals that were honest with you, you'd be worried too.

I agree Dave,, but your mistaken on one point. The great wall is not the only thing that can be seen from space thats man made. There is a garbage dump, in new york ( I beleive), that can be seen also. Whats the only living thing that can be seen from space????

never heard about the dump, but it sounds possible, if not kind of ironic. The answer to that question is The Great Barrier Reef.

China. yep. That's the one I'm watching. Since the US is out of the drivers seat of the UN, I'm watching them, too.

Come to think of it, have you heard lately what the UN's stance is on the US-Afghanistan conflict? And also, how China feels about it? The plastic-banana media isnt talking about how the UN or China feels about it, are they? I found out via research on-line that the UN is slightly negative towards the US in the matter, and is going into Afghanistan with food. Do we trust the UN to be only delivering food to the Afghani's? And I also found out that China is one of the very few nations who have actually taken a stand on the Taliban's side. There are financial connections between Afghanistan and China.

All this makes me very nervous.

Watch out for China. They soon will be able to hit us with long range missles. If you remember a few years back "Pres. Jethro Clinton" secretly sold them our technology on long range missles just so he could have some campain money.

Stan,

Probably algae in the ocean.

Talk to you later.

I was stunned by the attacks. I still am. Yes, I am naive. But I am honest. (The trash dump is on Staten Island. It's very famous, produces quite an odor.)
