Identifying a Brownie Starmite Camera ? : LUSENET : Brownie Cameras : One Thread

Hi I am VERY ignorant of cameras, but I am trying to identify what I have here: it is a Brownie Starmite Camera, with a Dakon Lens, and takes 127 film. It is as big as my hand and as a big empty metal dish and what appears to be a flash next to it. Could anyone help tell me what this is? And what year is it? Thank you sooo much!

Hi, William, All of this information is available in other sections of Chuck's website. But anyway, what you have is a camera with a built-in flash. The big empty metal dish is the flash reflector, which holds bulbs. The Starmite was manufactured in the U.S. between 1960 and 1965, thereabouts. It's very tough to get 127 film, but it is available, if you want to pay a lot of money for it. Its current worth is between $3 and $7.
