I bought heirloom seeds by the box at

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Hi everyone, I listen to shortwave, and Rick Wiles on americanfreedomnews.com has a big box of heirloom seeds to buy, enough for one acre. I bought two boxes, one for a neighbor and myself. The price seemed a little high, but there is a really big bunch of seeds. and they could turn into real gold, with whats going on in this country right now, and in the future. click on seed picture. What type of seeds were they and how much did you get for your price. Some seeds aren't good for a second year, that would be my concern.

The kit is $58, plus $7 shipping. They are non-hybrid and the kit contains almost any seed you might want. Corn, peas, beans, beets, cabbage, the list is long. It says you can plant about an acre, but by the looks of the number of seed, you could plant more than 1 acre. My order is in for a kit.

Irene: Have you already gotten your seeds? Just wondering what type of tomato seeds there were, etc. This is about 1/2 what another I saw cost, I think advertised in Countryside, I'll have to research. I have to admit, some of the things I wouldn't use, but could maybe trade to someone else for something they wouldn't want--eggplant for one. Our family isn't crazy about it. When you look at what a packet of seeds cost, this might be a pretty good deal. Jan

I just ordered the seeds myself, I haven"t gotten them yet. Sounds like a good deal to me.I hope they are everything they say they are.I don"t know much what to do with eggplant . I tried it cooked and then put into a stuffing, not bad, peel it of course. Love Irene

Makebbabba ganouj. You roast the eggplants (cut in half, unpeeled, skin pricked with fork) at 400 until they "poop". Then you let it cool to warm, scrape out the insides, mash well, and mix with juice of one lemon, 1/2 cut of tahini, crushed garlic (at least three cloves, but more is always good!), 1/2 cup chpd parsley, salt to taste, 1/4 cup chpd scallions, lots of blk pepper. Chill thoroughly (overnight makes it taste better) and drizzle with a little olive oil before serving with pita wedges.

It's also called eggplant caviar, but whatever you call it, it makes a great dip, sandwich spread, and sneaking-a-bite-at-3-am- snack. Measurements are for 1 large or two med-small eggplants.
