EOS D30 - Storage solutions

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Hi,

I'm hopefully going to purchase an EOS D30 very soon.

The CF card supplied is going to be quite small so alternative storage will be required. This will either be in the form of a new CF card (or multiples thereof) or an IBM Microdrive.

How do Microdrives fare against CF cards in terms of battery life?

If I go for the multiple CF options - is the EOS D30 design up to the constant swapping of CF cards?

Many thanks,

John.

It is possible to buy very large (512MB) solid-state CF cards now, and these would provide the best solution. The microdrive uses more battery, as it has to be spun, and is not as resiliant, should you drop it or something.

However, other manufacturers are starting to get into the microdrives (eg Iomega), so we should see drops in prices.
