RAPID DELIVERY/ADDLESHAW BOOTH/HALIFAX/ASSISTED RECOVERIES

Help me please, I am trying to make a definite connection between all these four companies. If I do I feel it could help a lot of us in this mortgage shortfall situation.

Two months ago I received a postcard from a company calling themselves RAPID DELIVERY. It was sent to my address but with no name of the intended recipient on it. The postcard informed me that they were trying to deliver a parcel and asked me to phone them. I phoned them and asked who the postcard was intended for. They asked me if I was Mrs. so and so, to which I replied no, they asked me if I knew Mrs. so and so to which I again replied no, they then informed me of the address they had previously tried to deliver this fictional parcel to and I said I did not know it. In fact it was the address of a property I had a mortgage on over ten years ago. They hung up, and I became increasingly afraid of what was going on. A few days later I received a letter from ADDLESHAW BOOTH MANCHESTER, solicitors acting for the Halifax plc informing me they were pursuing me for a mortgage shortfall debt of £56,39l,and l8 pence. I immediately applied for my credit file. A week later it arrived and there was a suspicious entry on it. My file had been searched by ASSISTED RECOVERIES LTD. Their search had been listed on my credit file as an unrecorded enquiry. I have discovered that it is a criminal offence to make a search on an idividuals credit file without their express authorisation. At no time have I ever given ASSISTED RECOVERIES LTD. my authority to search my credit file.

I hope I can link all these four companies together. If I do I feel it may go some way to helping many of us. Unfortunately the only company that I cannot find anything out about at present is RAPID DELIVERY, the ones who sent me the postcard that started all this. Unfortunately I have mislaid the postcard and can only remember their name. Please, has anyone else received a postcard from RAPID DELIVERY and still have it. If so I will be eternally grateful if you could send me details of their address and telephone number so I can enquire further. VERY MANY THANKS.

I searched the Companies House database and there is a Rapid Delivery Services Ltd, number NI038780 and they are registered in Northern Ireland. Of course these might be a completely different company.

There is a link between the four companies - at the moment Halifax are using Addleshaw Booth to chase the debts and AB's are using Assisted Recoveries and Rapid Delivery for tracing.

If you check out Assisted Recoveries on the Data Protection Database http://www.dpr.gov.uk/cgi-bin/dpr98-fetch.pl?source=DPR&docid=213720 then you can SARN them and find out what they've got on you and if the delivery company were instructed by them.

I do believe that its illegal for a firm to pretend they are a delivery company and if you can show that Rapid Delivery and/or Assisted Recoveries are linked, then you may be able to make a complaint.
