Polarizer and 28-105 problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I just got a 28-105 lens with its canon lens hood. I usually have a POLrizer on when I'm outdoors. In this case a Tiffen unit. THe problem is, it won't fit.

If I attach the polarizer first the lens hood then won't go over it due to the grip provided for rotating the filter.

If I attach the lens hood first there is no finger room to then screw on the polarizer.

Any suggestions? Like a polarizer that fits for instance?

Thanks

Marcus

If you want to use a polarizer, you'll have to remove the lens hood. If the polarizer ring stuck out far enough to allow it to rotate with the hood on, you'll end up including it in the picture.

I just use a standard Tiffen circular polarizer (58mm) without any problems. I don't stack filters (take off the UV) and the hood slips over the filter without any problems. I can, with some difficulty, turn the polarizer with the hood on, but I usually just take it off.
