cultural change ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Transcultural Nursing : One Thread

It is suddenly O.K. to pray. It's OK to pray now that we are in trouble, the same prayer that was banned from schools, public meetings, sporting events, government buildings or any public place where some one might be offended. Is this a change in cultural values taking place? What are your thoughts?

Good question. I haven't heard any complaints from those that have objected to public prayer in the past. It will be interesting to see if resistence pops up after the current world sitiation has stabilized. We may be able to advance to spiritual side of our nursing practice by tuning into our patients' ques to assess and offer care for the suffering being experiencing on a spiritual and emotional level. The extreme acts and reponse to those acts seems to have us, individually and as a culture, off balance. Rita
