People (Kids & adults) can pray anytime they want to in schools. do they have to gather in one big crowd to do it?

"And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly,I say to you, they have their reward." "But you, when you pray,go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father whi is in the secret place and your father who ses in secret will reward you openly." (Jesus, Matt.6:5-6)

Excellent point Tom.

Tom, if what you say is true, there certainly are plenty of hypocrites active on this site.

Tom, I agree with you. When something doesn't make sense it's always good to ask what's going on behind the scenes. You know, what's the REAL issue? And why is someone trying to drag me into it?

I can pray anytime I want, day or night and no one even has to know. It's between God and me and it's nobody else's business. Why do I HAVE to make each prayer some sort of public declaration? My answer is that I don't have to, and I won't make my kids go through all that foolishness either.

But it was still a good question, Gary. You gotta laugh at the screwed up logic sometimes, huh?

It's ALWAYS been OK to pray in school and it happens every day quite legally.

It's when you attempt to include others who may not care to participate that the problem arises.

So what's the answer????? My guess, probably not. They just don't get it!

Since when does the Bible say GOD will protect the USA? It has always been my understanding that Israel was God's prefered Country. Please look at Israel Does it look like God's protecting it? I think that God has given all peoples Free Will. What we choose to do or not to do is something we as human beings have to live with. If all peoples would stop blaming God for their actions I think we could live a much better life. It just seems to this old timer that all the religious wars of the past, present and future should be called what they are . WARS OF HUMAN BEINGS.

Sorry just get so tired of God getting credit/blame for so much stuff caused by humans. As to your question Gary, NO..organized, forced prayer time is as wrong as punishment for prayer is.

thank you for letting me talk to you.

ww, At what point did I say or the messages on the URL say forced prayer? It simply says allow prayer in school. A mement of silence, a moment to reflect, a moment to pray. No one leads, no one follows. simply a moment to allow.

-- Gary (gws@redbird.net), September 23, 2001.

Sorry Gary but it won't wash.

There's not a student in the nation who has such busy day that he can't get a quiet moment to pray or reflect if he chooses but when you mandate that everyone do so at the same time then you're getting right back into the same old problem. ANYONE can pray in school IF they choose to do so. We don't need the school to mandate it.

There is nothing wrong with a moment of silence if for nothing more than to collect your daily thoughts and what you have to do for the day .Whats wrong with this is everyone is trying to take are rights away .

I just wanted to add something to my orignal answer above. I know kids pray in school now just for the fact that my kids do just like their friends. They sit at their desks and pray silently about "Please God let me get a A" or how about "Please God don't let the teacher pick me" or "Please God I don't want to have to do a book report" these and a dozen others things kids pray about everyday in school.

As with so many things, People (myself included) get out of hand. My orginal post was of the URL was not ment to be a discussion on religion. A but of humor and Irony that it takes 6000 dead to have our leaders even utter the word pray in a public setting. . There are apparently a lot of people who have not found the joy of a god(any god). I can only pray for those that they may find that joy.
