sony dvd/ cd-r

I have a Sony DVD player, model DVP-670D. I know it is not supposed to be able to play CD-Rs, but some actually do play. For example one from manufacturer Prime Peripherals. Does any have a list of all the CD-Rs that can play on this model?

Trying/forcing which CD-R media type/model that will play on a decidedly non-CD-R player is more like cutting off a toe so the foot fits the shoe. I suggest you just auction off that DVD player on eBay and move on to other brands/models that do officially recognize CD-R. With such DVD players only about US$200 (and cheaper) nowadays this shouldn't be so hard. This is invariably how it ends. You might indeed find a prime peripherals CD-R type that will play on your Sony: for now. This doesn't guarantee, as sooner or later everyone in your situation finds out, that the next batch of same brand/model CD- R media will work on the same player.

I can personally verify that Prime Peripherals brand works on Sony DVD players as my brother has one. I'm not aware of any other brands that work. However, bear in mind that there are 2 types of Sony DVD players. 1) Players that supposedly don't support CD-R at all. These will play most CD-RW brands and Prime Peripherals brand CD-R. These players also play VCD/SVCD. 2) Players that support CD-R/W officially and VCD. They'll play most CD-R brands but they won't play SVCD at all. :-( I don't keep up with Sony models, so I have no idea which one you have. I've seen both. If your players says on it that it supports CD-R, you have the 2nd type. www.vcdhelp.com has a DVD compatibility list that might help you figure this out. Prime Peripherals brand CD-Rs are sold at Office Max, I think. If not Office Max, try Office Depot. It's one of the two. They're both near me and I don't remember which one I bought the CD-Rs from.
