Was a sunken gold rush ship tunneled through to make BART?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : San Francisco History : One Thread

I know there are many gold rush ships beneath the financial district in downtown San Francisco. I have also heard there were several discovered during the construction of BART under Market St. In addition, I have heard reports that one ship was physically tunneled through while making BART (heard this on a "Barbary Coast" special on PBS). Thus, when one rides BART down Market St. he actually goes through an old ship. I have several friends that think I'm crazy. Are they correct?
