Can osteonecrosis spread from bone to bone

I have osteonecrosis in the second metatarsal head in my left foot. I would like to know if it will be the only affected bone or if it will spread.

Osteonecrosis can affect any bone. However, it doesn't "spread" as in infection spreading or cancer spreading. Moreover, osteonecrosis of the metatarsal head is a specific form of osteonecrosis thought to be related to repetitive micro-injury. It would be very unlikely that you would get osteonecrosis in any other location.

Alittle over a year ago I was told I had Avascular Necrosis of my left ankle. Treatment: a weight bearing brace. About 10 months ago I was told I had the same thing of my right ankle. Another weight bearing brace. Within the last 3-4 months I have been experiencing pain in my knees, hips and groin. I was told I have Avascular Necrosis of those joints also. Is it just moving up my body so that eventually I won't be able to move? The pain is terrible. For which I was given nothing. I do have alot of other problems with RA, and blood clots. I guess this really isn't an answer to your problem, but was just letting you know what is happening to me.
