The eve of destruction

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

The eastern world it tis explodinī,
violence flarinī, bullets loadinī,
youīre old enough to kill but not for votinī,
you donīt believe in war, whatīs that gun youīre totinī,
and even the Jordan river has bodies floatinī,
but you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you donīt believe weīre on the eve of destruction.

Donīt you understand, what Iīm trying to say?
Canīt you see the fear that Iīm feeling today?
If the button is pushed, thereīs no running away,
Thereīll be none to save with the world in a grave,
take a look around you, boy, itīs bound to scare you, boy,
but you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you donīt believe weīre on the eve of destruction.

Yeah, my bloodīs so mad, feels like coagulatinī,
Iīm sittinī here, just contemplatinī,
I canīt twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
handful of Senators donīt pass legislation,
and marches alone canīt bring integration,
when human respect is disintegratinī,
this whole crazy world is just too frustratinī,
and you tell me over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you donīt believe weīre on the eve of destruction.

Think of all the hate there is in Red China!
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama!
Ah, you may leave here, for four days in space,
but when you return, itīs the same old place,
the poundinī of the drums, the pride and disgrace,
you can bury your dead, but donīt leave a trace,
hate your next-door-neighbour, but donīt forget to say grace,
and you tell me over and over and over and over again my friend,
ah, you donīt believe weīre on the eve of destruction.

STATUS QUO In The Army Now

A vacation in a foreign land

Uncle Sam does the best he can

You're in the army now

Oh, oh you're in the army - now

Now you remember what the draft man said

Nothing to do all day but stay in bed

You're in the army now

Oh, oh you're in the army - now

You'll be a hero of the neighbourhood

Nobody knows that you left for good

You're in the army now

Oh, oh you're in the army - now

Hand grenades flying over your head

(drums)

The sun's flying over your head

If you wanna survive you're out of bet

You're in the army now

Oh, oh you're in the army - now

Shots ring out in the dead of night

The sergeant calls : "Stand up and fight!"

You're in the army now

Oh, oh you're in the army - now

(repeat refrain)

You've got your orders to shoot on sight

your finger's on the trigger but it don't seem right

You're in the army now

Oh, oh you're in the army - now

(repeat refrain 4 more times)

You can stay here for awhile,

but when you’re ready to leave,

say your good-byes,

take care of unfinished business,

and then Godspeed.

I take it these are quotes from Nostradamus? :)

I once heard a radio talk show where they were having listeners call in and say what would be the worst gift they could think of receiving. One of the best suggestions was "A clown lamp with a music box in it that plays Eve of Destruction."

Did you notice that they are in two groups of 7? You know what that means don't you?

lets give the 60's a rest. The music sucked.. the people sucked hippies sucked and those who try to revive the 60's REALLY REALLY suck.. Pick up a gun, put down the bell bottoms and the hendrix album our country is at war.

How about letting this dead music die already. Its like learning latin. Why bother.. its dead.

Dead people dead times and some leftovers trying to revive what little they have or memories and throw it on our younger generation. God i miss the 80's when people were just "cooler"

Oh you mean Cindy Loper (spell?). Girls just wan-nu have fu-un; ooh girls just wan-nu have fun.

-- Maria (anon@ymous.com), September 21, 2001.

Oh yeah, why don't you just chemically castrate the hair metal bands if that is the way you really feel Maria. I suspect Poison, Motley Crue, and Cinderella have all been castrated for quite some time.
