"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human liberty; it is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves." - William Pitt

Ain't it the truth though?

-- Bob in WI (bjwick@hotmail.com), September 17, 2001.

Yes, it is the truth. As I've been reading and listening this past week, over and over what comes to mind is the Bible descriptions of the End Times and the Tribulation. Wars and rumors of wars, famine, pestilence, and nobody being able to buy or sell without having the number of the Beast in their hand or their forehead. I don't expect to be here to see it, as I believe the Church will be raptured before we actually get into the Tribulation. But I can sure see how the hunt for terrorists could and probably will lead right into that. And, of course, in the process of trying to stop terrorism, they will make legitimate quarrels with bad government impossible to prosecute (I'm not using the word in the legal-system sense). So it will be total, world-wide tyranny, and it will come because we the people cried for it, just as Israel got kings against what God wished for them because they cried for it -- and look what it brought them in the end. Out of a whole list of kings, only a handful were good. And remember the saying that "Power breeds corruption, and absolute power breeds absolute corruption."

Well, Kathleen, before we both get deleted, I would like to support you speaking out about your personal faith here. And I would like to say I also believe these are the beginning of sorrows. The time of the end has begun. For those who are right with God, the time of the end will not be nearly as bad as for those who are not right with Him. I tsays in Daniel, that in the time of the end, "Those who do know their God shall be strong and do exploits." I am not sure if we shall be raptured before the tribulation, during the tribulation, or after it, but I know this. Whatever comes to me, has been screened by God himself. And He has promised to care for His children. I may even be called to die for Jesus, but even in that, I will be more than a conquorer, because I know the war in the heavens has already been won by my Master, Jesus. We wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against apiritual wickedness in high places. This conflict is not primarily between the people of the free world and the mixed-up fanatics of Afghanistan. Osama Bin Laden is only a pawn of a spiritual power that has him in their grip, using him to play out the spiritual conflict in the physical realm. We who are empowered by the Holy Spirit - GOD Himself within us! - are stronger than he who is in Osama Bin Laden. We are overcomers!

Dear Mrs. Daffodyllady, the ONLY thing that gets deleted here is unabashed, unneccessary profanity. Please check the "about" link above. I resent your supposition and request an apology. This is not and has never been a dictatorship NOR Countryside.

Doreen i think she thought this was the countryside Board. It gets kind of confusing when you are subscribed to both this and another board. Everyone please make sure and check which board you are replying to. People's feelings could get hurt unintentionally.
