President Bush

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

I just wanted to say that Geo. Bush really made a positive impression on me by actually crying....it's hard to put into words, but it is very heartening to see that depth of emotion coming through, and it gives me more trust in him as a leader. I just wanted to share that with all of you fwiw.

I saw Clinton today rubbing his eyes, but it wasn't as convincing, and definitely not moving like the real tears... I have also felt impressed by Bush's genuinness this week. Did you catch his words at the cathedral this morning?

I am so glad you all can tell the truth in a man's heart by the quality of the tear in his eye. Oh, puh-leez!!!

That's one of the things I like about Reagan, he wasn't afraid to show emotion. When I saw Clinton with his head down, I was hoping he was reflecting on whatever part he played in this somewhere along the line.

Sandra, people think *I* am cynical. I seriously wondered about the man having had direct knowledge about this attack. His demeanor coming off of the helicopter on 911 and the tears welling up in his eyes (several times) convinced me he did not. I do not the sun rises and sets on Geo Bush by any stretch of the imaginattion, but at least I don't feel like he was happy about this, and that gives me comfort. Not a lot, but some and that is good.

That is supposed to be "was not" happy about this...sheesh.

Like you I have my suspicions of what was known prior to this incident in NYC and DC, but that is not my point. My point is I find it taxing when individuals are so politically partisan that even in a situation of national grief like this a statement can be made regarding the sincerity of a man's tears based on whether he was from the last administration or not. Personally I think GW is the best oil man money could buy a presidency for and I pray he doesn't continue to disappoint me and drop the ball on this terrorism thing. I can think of many republicans I would rather have seen in the office of the president if a republican had to be elected this last election. Be that as it may I will give him my support in pursuing the perpetrators of the recent attacks and I hope he doesn't quit until the terrorist network is severely compromised (if not eliminated as elimination is asking for alot). It will be a long, expensive and bloody path we will have to travel, as a nation, but I fear it is a necessary one. Because of the nature of terrorism and the level of technology the world has risen to, if terrorism is not curtailed it is only a matter of time before disease or a carry on nuclear devise is utilized somewhere somehow against some one on a large scale. Every little tin horn terrorist feels his particular beef warrants the deaths of as many innocents as possible so he can make a "statement". The cost of making that statement must be made prohibitive to those who recruit the terrorists and to those who would hide them, to those who finance them and to those who condone them. Personal opinion.

Alright, I admit it was a cheap-shot, but I have never seen anyone in real life rub their eyes hard like that in leau of tears. And I'm edgy.

The Jerusalem Post is reporting that Israeli Intelligence warned US Intelligence that there was a terrorist group numbering over 200 that was operating in this country, and intending to strike soon. US Intelligence allegedly disregarded it, as it felt that the Israelis tend to be too on-edge about terrorism. Read the story in the Sunday edition of the Jerusalem Post at www.jpost.com

pray for Pres Bush he is the right man for this time. Anti-war protestors should be home waiting for their next welfare check. You must realize these terrorists will kill us if we don't get tem first. Pres Bush is the right msn for this trying time

Wally, you should go back to the Beav, and learn to spell, at the very least.

Your insulting attempt at logic is pathetic. I am an "anti-war protester"; in fact, I'm one of the organizers, and proud of it.

I've waited for over fifty-seven years for my first welfare check; I am beginning to think it will never get here.

You are a half-wit, Wally.

What Joe said!

It's weird to see the only positive thing I could ever say about Bush pop back up. Amazingly enough, you could count me as an anti-war activist along with JOJ.
