9x12/6x9 Voigtlander Avus info wanted

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Large format photography : One Thread

Just got a very nice Voigtlander Avus folding view camera in a truckload of old photo junk from a guys barn. It works & you focus either with the rangefinder & framing wire or with the ground glass back. To shoot you remove the gg back & slide in a single sheet holder which has either a 6x9 or 9x12 septum in it. I am looking for any information on the camera, and any possible sources for more sheet film backs and septums. Also any source for a roll film back that will use 120 or 220 film. It has a nice, clean 135mm lens on it and the front standard has shift and rise/fall controls. Looks like a nice little camera for carrying around and special projects and I want to use it. Any info would be appreciated.

Dan: I may have some holders that will fit that camera, but I'm not sure. I will have to dig them out of my attic. I got them with a box of photographic junk 10 years ago, and they don't fit any modern camera. They are 6x9 cm. If you can send me a scan or digital photo of one of the holders you have, I should be able to tell you if mine will work.

Dan - I think there is a current thread on this camera on the medium format digest - if I remember, a fellow inherited one from his grandfather and was looking for info. the thread is about three days old.
