Lines at gas stations and $6.50/gallon prices

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

Well, the local news has video of long lines at gas stations, and news that some stations are charging as much as $6.50 a gallon. I was at a friend's house this afternoon (for a review of our mutual bug-out plans) when we heard this news. On the way home, I got into a traffic jam due to a large number of cars trying to jam themselves into the gas pumps of a 7-11 at a major intersection. They had their gas price signs down so I don't know what they were charging. I'm glad I filled up this morning as we were about on empty. (I paid $1.46/gallon.)

Robert - The WTC was blown up, not our oil delivery infrastructure. If some idiot was charging $6.50 per gallon, it doesn't mean they were getting it. I'm sure most people, like you, will drive around and shortly find it at $1.46 or less as you did and it won't be long before the idiot reduces his prices.

In any case, there were absolutely no lines at any gas stations anywhere in the Phoenix metropolitan area (except at the cheap gas stations where gas can still be had for $1.24 at Arco)

Weren't any gas lines here in Florida, nor Bank lines, nor lines in the grocery. Someone made that crap up, and oh by the way, I remember the name robert waldrop from the Y2K boards. No one is panicking, just solemn folks driving slowly in the pouring rain, after the morning horror. You won't break this "Red Rover" line, no matter who you "send over".......

Hey Mr. "My Story," think about this:

________________ from market thoughts (halifaxcapital) ________________

The excesses of the 20's resulted in the BEGINNING of a big problem in October of 1929. It was NOTHING compared to how bad things were 4 years later.... here is just a little taste...

You say you have your money in CD's, money market funds etc....

Bearing in mind that OUR excesses make their excesses look PUNY by comparison...Let me know what you STILL don't understand.

Price gouging on gasoline doesn't seem to be confined to OKC, most of the networks seem to be talking about it late this evening.

-- robert waldrop (rmwj@soonernet.com), September 12, 2001.

There were certainly scattered reports of gasoline price gouging and panic buying of ammunition and groceries... To me, the important thing is just to note the reaction; the panic, however short-lived, tells us something about how unprepared most sheeple are -- and raises questions as to just how much it takes to truly cut through denial.

Thanks for the first hand reports here and on Cory's board, Robert in OKC. Be well.

Ah, now I see the related stories from the major media outlets, elsewhere on this board.
