Where do we go from here?

Eldest called me from BYU as I was finishing chores to tell me to turn on the tv. I know most of ya'll were watching with the same sense of horror. I've been fairly mesmerized by the tv all day; haven't gotten one thing done. My question is, where do you think/feel we go from here? Didn't take long to correlate this with Pearl Harbor. In those days, we knew who we were fighting, and who was fighting us. War was the obvious dreaded solution. What is the solution now--is there one? We have been actively engaged, as far as I can tell, for about 10 years now in trying to find one certain notorious terrorist/hater, with no success. If you were in charge, what action would you now take?..Do you think America will be safe to fly/go about business tomorrow? I saw live footage near the former trade center where the people on the street heard a plane overhead and scrambled in terror again until someone called out, it's ours!(Well, so were the others, but I guess this was a military patrol). Very reminiscent of what we've become accustomed over the years to seeing in foreign countries, but never thought we'd look in dread at the skies here. Is this teotwawki, or in a few months will we go about as if this had never happened?..what happens next?

How aabout to our knees?

Knees is good.

I do NOT think it Bin Laden. I know almost everyone else is ready to hang his head up on a pole, but the man was a paid CIA attache for years prior to him becoming the boogie man under the Clinton regime. It's too pat. Hussein also was a US agent for years. The Gulf War was a giant hoax and an experiment at getting countries to work under the auspicies of the UN instead of the individual nations.

There are a number of questions I have:

1) WHY were there only 266 people aboard these planes? Every one of them is capable of carrying in excess of 200 people each. I fly a fair amount and my business partner flies nearly constantly and all flights have been near capacity for well over a year now. Why only 45 people on a plane that holds more than 300? I am very glad that there were so few people on board, but it does not make sense. Any ideas?

2) The plane out of Dulles that hit the Pentagon had to have been under terrorist control prior to take off. There is no more than a 10 minute flight max from Dulles to the Pentagon. How do guys with box knifes get control of a plane on the ground? You can't possibly control 67 people with three men holding box knives. Am I wrong about that?

As to where we go.....time will tell. Everything is changed permanently from this. I am afraid it is just the first of a number of escalations in removal of liberty.

I don't see this as being similar to what happens in other countries every day. This is much more catastrophic. Only God knows how many people were killed at the WTC. I doubt we will know for a long time. The worst terrorist attack I recall hearing involved 130 (or thereabouts) people being killed. I did hear that 200 fire fighters were killed for certain.

On the other post I made about the constitution, you all remember the national emergency scenarios from y2k, right? well, I don't see how Bush can not implement a national emergency. He would be called derelict in duty if he didn't, don't you think?

On a different note, my goats listened with acute interest as I explained the events of the day to them, still got the usual amount of milk and the usual amount of eggs. The bunnies kept on eating and pooping, and the cats still rubbed my legs and purred when I picked them up. The dogs are being extra loving, and the sky is not obstructed by planes tonight. Weird.

This is stupefying.

I have been on my knees for quite some time since all this happened. I was especially worried about my son who works in NYC and went through the trade center yesterday morning just a couple of hours before all this happened. I knew he went through there so I was worried. Thank God he is fine. He got home around 3 yesterday afternoon. His wife was pretty shook up. They live in N.J. just across the Hudson river and could see the trade center from their apt. window. My daughter-in-law saw most of it happen. My sister lives close too and her husband works in the city, he also made it home ok. What happens now? I don't think things will ever be the same and most people around there I am sure will never have the same sense of security anymore. I'm anxious to hear Bush's speech this morning. I certainly hope we catch and punish who was responsible for this and go after whatever country may be involved.

I also wondered about the issue of these men overpowering a plane "full" of people. Teenage son wonders why they haven't yet made those cockpit doors more secure and why there couldn't be a plainclothes armed guard on each plane, willing to shoot to kill anyone who would try such a deed. I believe his thinking is sound and wonder the same thing myself...Is any one else concerned that maybe these guys weren't done when the planes were grounded, and there could be more in the wings if some drastic security measures aren't taken?

If a gun were shot on a plane wouldn't the plane depressurize if it went through the plane itself? There are definitely a lot of unanswered questions.

So why did the plane go down in Pa. in a field? Did someone try to be heroic? Did the pilot crash the plane purposely so only those people would be lost and the crash on the Capitol or White House?

Cindy, those are my thoughts. I doubt we will ever know for sure. It is hard to imagine people with knives could take over a plane but we weren't there and don't know the exact circumstances or what was going through their minds. They probably had no idea they were going to crash into buildings. I'm sure they thought they would eventually get off the plane safe. I pray God will comfort the families of those victims.
