EOS A2 and METZ CL-4 and SCA adapter

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Recently, I purchased a Metz CL4 w/dedicated SCA3000 adapter for the A2. Is this Metz too much power for this Canon model? It seems to work fine when camera is set in manual mode. However, I could not get the camera to mesh w/the SCA adapter to fire the flash. Seems odd to me when the adapter is dedicated to the camera. I set the Metz to TTL when using the adapter and set camera to X mode. And, set the Metz to auto when not using the adapter, and camera to M mode. Any suggestions?

Thankful for any advice.

The flash is not too powerful for the camera. I use a Canon Speedlite 430 EZ, which is very similar power, and the camera works fine with the 540EZ and 550EX flashguns, which are both more powerful still. Perhaps you're discovering the reasons to buy a manufacturer's own flashguns, because you KNOW they will work with the camera. If you particularly want the hammerhead style, Canon make a 480EG.
