...and then, depression set in...

God, how depressing was that? Some observations: 1) No emotion. Did the pregame honoring of Big K contribute to that? 2 I got as close to making a tackle on the opening kickoff as some of the Vikes. That took the air right out of us. 3) Obviously, our special teams sucked. a) A blocked PAT? Teams don't even try on PAT's! b) A Gary Anderson yank? uh oh. c) Nate Jacquet showed me nothing. I thought Qadry Ismail was a pussy, but this guy is unbelievable. Runs out of bounds on two punt returns. Shows not a whiff of breakaway on KO returns, and falls down against a strong breeze. 4) Daunte--what was that? Three picks, a fumble at the goal line? God, he looked awful 5) We seemed to change our defensive scheme after some early success. We were bringing pressure, but seemed to back off. All in all, I didn't think the D was too bad, but we were playing a rookie, who played under control. 6) Our O line looked like they were having trouble all game. 7) "We won't miss Robert Smith..." Think we can get him out of retirement? 8) This played a minor role in the game, but THE OFFICIATING SUCKED!!!!! They looked confused all game and missed some obvious calls. 9) The Fox coverage was weak also. If I have to listen to Jeff Lagemen and Ray Bentley all year, I'll watch the game without sound. They were terrible, and the production was awful. The angles were bad, the replays were bad, and the production was bad.
