I planted Hybrid Supermarket cantaloupe this year, and I got several very nice (3-4 lb) melons late July and early August, but now the melons are ripening when they are about softball size. Could it be the hot weather here in August in southern KS, or maybe the soil became depleted of nutrients? Anyone have any thoughts?

Usually small or misshapen fruit is due to poor pollination.
