There is some good waterfall ice climbing on the Argentiere glacier, with at least one grade 6 (Shiva Lingam). In the Northern Alps, the Fer de Cheval site has awesome but very commited climbs. However, most of people would head for the area around Briancon, with sites such as La Grave, Fournel, and Fressinieres.
